Metro Group of Hospitals was founded in 1997 by Dr. Purshotam Lal (Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Dr. B.C. Roy National Awardee), a pioneer of interventional cardiology in India, with a vision to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable to all sections of society.
Driven by the belief that compassionate healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege, the group was established to serve especially the underserved — patients from lower and middle-income groups who are often overlooked by large corporate hospitals. Metro Group of Hospitals aims to eliminate financial barriers to treatment and provide advanced medical care with empathy and dignity.
Today, the group comprises 11 hospitals and 1 medical college (Metro College of Health Sciences and Research), with a collective capacity of 2,500+ beds. Of these, 10 hospitals are NABH accredited and 4 laboratories are NABL accredited, reflecting the highest standards in clinical and laboratory excellence in India.
